Project FloreSER Wins AMISA Global Citizen Award
At PASB, student-led initiatives are transforming lives and shaping brighter futures. One remarkable example is Project FloreSER, a service-learning initiative led by two inspiring students, Ester S. (Year 11), founder and president, and Maria Paula B. (Year 9), vice president. With the support of their advisor, Ms. Suziane Gonçalves, and community partners, they are making a tangible impact in Salvador, Brazil, and beyond.
FloreSER goes far beyond raising awareness about gender equality. It’s a movement that equips young girls and women with the tools they need to take control of their futures—specifically through financial education and the development of communication skills. The project offers hands-on support, including classes, lectures, workshops, and vital resources to women in underserved communities, giving them the knowledge and confidence to participate in the economy and advocate for their rights.
In recognition of their outstanding work, FloreSER has been awarded the prestigious AMISA Global Citizen Award 2025—a testament to the transformative power of student-led initiatives and the deeply rooted culture of service at PASB. The project was chosen among many other initiatives by the American International Schools in the Americas (AMISA).
“As president and founder of FloreSER, I am extremely honored to win such an amazing recognition and prize,” says Ester S. “With more visibility and financial support, we can expand our impact. We plan to offer scholarships, create an online platform, and make financial education a mandatory subject in public schools across Brazil.”
Ms. Maria Eduarda Fonseca, CAS Coordinator at PASB, highlights the significance of this achievement and celebrates the initiative shown by both students. “FloreSER, in particular, is a project that fills us with pride because it is created by women, for women and girls. Through it, our students realize that the access they have to education should not be a privilege but a right guaranteed for all.”
